Eve Aqua adds thread support to HomeKit sprinklers

In the wake of adding Thread to the Eve Motion sensor, Eve is back once again with another upgrade to one of its existing products. Now available, the new Eve Aqua is the perfect way to turn a traditional outdoor faucet into a HomeKit-enabled faucet to automatically water your lawn, plants, and more.

If you’re building a new home today and are looking for a sprinkler system, it’s best to get a home that works with HomeKit out of the box. If you’re not looking to dig up your yard or want to modify your existing sprinkler system or outdoor hose setup, the new Eve Aqua is the perfect device for you. Once installed, the Eve Aqua Smart Water Controller activates your irrigation system via iPhone, Siri or the built-in button and shuts off automatically after a preset period to avoid any surprises in your water bill.

The new Eve Aqua builds on its previous model with a new interior and exterior design that adds to form and function. The Eve Aqua features a space gray body and a matte black front. Replaces the previous internal system with a copper tap connector and magnetic valve for improved durability, better leakage protection, and near-silent operation compared to the previous model.

“Eve Aqua looks great and makes smart gardening easy, safe and fun,” says Jerome Jackel, CEO of Eve Systems. “The thread eliminates the need for a digital bridge, while the copper tap adapter ensures a solid physical connection. And of course, our beautiful Eve app brings it all together, making scheduling and consumption monitoring easy.”

The new Eve Aqua is compatible with all conventional hose systems and multi-channel water dispensers such as the Gardena. Plus, it offers seven out-of-the-box irrigation periods. Using either a custom schedule or running it manually if you’re concerned about your plants or your lawn during a heat wave, you’ll have complete watering control through the Home app or the Eve iPhone app.

While the new body shape looks great for overall durability, the primary upgrade on the Eve Aqua side is with the Thread. Thread technology has been specifically developed for smart home applications to improve communication between products. You will create a mesh network while creating your Thread Network (HomePod Mini, other devices, etc.). Within this mesh network, lights, thermostats, outlets, sensors, and more can talk to each other without the constraints of going through a central hub, such as a bridge or router. That’s because a thread network doesn’t need one. If one device fails, data packets are simply relayed to the next in the network.
