Xiaomi’s new Mijia smart glasses have a 50MP camera and 15x zoom

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled smart glasses with a 50MP camera as well as an 8MP periscope camera capable of up to 15x zoom and 100 minutes of continuous recording.

Xiaomi announced the launch of Mijia Glasses earlier today, describing the wearable technology as “never seen before.”

The Google Glass-style device features a 50MP Bayer quad-angle camera and an 8MP periscope camera with split optical image stabilization (OIS). While the wide-angle main camera shoots the user’s first viewing angle, the periscope lens features 5x optical zoom and 15x hybrid zoom for long shots, according to reports. Bandeli.

Equipped with an internal 1020mAh battery plus 10W magnetic charging, Mijia glasses can record continuously for up to 100 minutes and can be charged from 0% to 80% in less than 30 minutes – all while weighing just 100g.

The product has a Sony Micro OLED display with up to 3000 nits of peak brightness and TÜV Rheinland certification for eye protection. The glasses also have an LED imaging indicator on the front of the camera body, which will light up to show others when the wearer is taking pictures or recording videos.

The Mijia glasses are powered by an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and include 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage, dual WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0. According to Xiaomi, the product features a variety of intelligent augmented reality (AR) functions including “time tracking”, which can save videos within 10 seconds before pressing the shutter and shooting.

The technology supports one-click sharing on users’ social media platforms and images can be quickly imported from Mijia Glasses to the user’s smartphone through the associated app.

Mijia glasses also feature Xiaomi AI real-time text translation between English and Chinese, as well as intelligent recognition of animals and plants in the scene. Other AR features, such as screen casting, are promised to come in later product updates.

Xiaomi will launch a crowdfunding campaign for Mijia glasses on August 3. Customers in China will be able to pre-order the product at a discounted price of 2,499 yuan, or about $370 while the product is expected to retail for 2,699 yuan or so. $400 in the future.
