Sources say McDonald’s worker in New York City shot cold French fries

A senior police source said Tuesday that the suspect who shot a Brooklyn McDonald’s worker and left him clinging to life was arguing with him over cold French fries.

The 23-year-old victim, who is fighting for his life at Brookdale Hospital, was working at the fast-food restaurant at 1531 Fulton Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant at about 7 p.m. Monday when a customer began harassing him for it, the source said.

The source claimed that the woman was FaceTiming her 20-year-old son, who was apparently nearby, as the controversy subsided, and he quickly broke into the restaurant and started a fight with the employee.

“The mother complained that her potatoes were cold,” the police source said.

“The mother was on FaceTime with her son, and the feud was heard between her and the employee. The son and the writer got into a feud at home and got out.”

When the woman’s son was said to have struck a pistol and attacked the worker in the head, the police said.

The source said the shooting was captured on surveillance video.

Authorities said the employee is in critical condition and a 20-year-old is in custody. No charges have been filed in connection with the case.

Pictures and footage from the aftermath of the accident showed a man embracing the severely injured worker’s head as blood splattered on the sidewalk.

“I feel like crying. Did you shoot someone over the french fries?” a witness told The Post on Tuesday.

The witness who was at her local store at the time of the shooting said: “We were sitting here.

“We heard pop music,” she said. “At first, we thought it was a firework. I was scared. That’s why I didn’t run to the scene. You don’t know who you are.”

Later, “We all went out. The boy was on the floor.

A local store worker added that he heard “one shot.”

“I saw people running. I got scared and closed my doors.

“Where does a 20-year-old get a gun from?” said the man, shaking his head. Fulton Street is the craziest street. It’s getting worse, and shooters are getting older. They have lost their sense of direction.

“She says something when the mother is with her son who is carrying a gun.

“I saw two cops in the corner all week, but yesterday I didn’t see one of them. They have to be in every corner every day.”
