India captain Rohit Sharma is facing criticism from the fans after one of his decisions failed to deliver the desired results during his second T20I against the West Indies on Monday (August 1). The West Indies beat India by five wickets per match to equalize the level in the five-match series.
When asked to do the bat first, India couldn’t handle well at bats and were all out for a modest total of 138. Rohit Sharma went out for a golden duck the first time and India never recovered from that setback. The visitors continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were eventually all out for 138. Hardik Pandya scored India’s highest goal with 31 ball runs.

For the West Indies, Obed McCoy was the bowlers’ choice, taking 6 wickets for just 17 while Jason Holder also picked up 2 wickets. Chasing 139, the West Indies crossed the finish line in the last period of the game. Opening Brandon King was the home team’s top scorer, scoring 68 while wicket-keeper Devon Thomas also played an unbeaten decisive kick from just 31 from 19 balls.
Rohit Sharma faces criticism for the poor decision:
With India losing the match, fans were criticizing Rohit Sharma for one of his captain decisions. With 10 runs needed to get out of the final, Rohit handed the ball to Avish Khan instead of Bhoveneshwar Kumar who had two in excess. Rohit’s sudden and daring move didn’t get the desired results because Avish gave up running in only two balls.

The right-arm helix threw a no-ball first, continuing to drop six of the first legitimate ball from above. The match ended with the next delivery as Thomas crushed the young Indian for four. Because Avish failed to defend the run, fans criticized Rohit for his decision not to hand the ball to Bhoveneshwar.
Here are some of the reactions:
why? Why didn’t you experience one of the coolest death hits on archer Bovneshwar Kumar? Why is Avish Khan?
Rohit Sharma proves why he is an ordinary captain.#IndvsWI

What a win! The West Indies defeated the full-strength India team by 5 wickets to tie the series 1-1. Take a bow, Thomas!
Strangely enough, Rohit Sharma did not hand the latter over to Bhoveneshwar Kumar. 10 runs was too much to chase on this court, bad captain. #WIvIND

If Bhuvneshwar Kumar was injured or had a giggle, that would be fair and square. But if this was just an experiment, it was too bad considering we didn’t actually win the series. #WIvIND

What was that from Rohit? Why did he not go with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. You need your most experienced player in this kind of situation. Avesh Khan’s job has always been tough to defend 10 runs from 6 balls. #WIvIND #INDvWI

He needed 10 out of 6 balls and Vada paav gave the ball to Avish Khan instead of veteran Bhuvi 🤣😂😂😂
Ice getting hum world cup. I stand with Avish Khan 👍

I ask just one question why is this Indian team doing the experiments.
First they did batting experiments now they do that today in bowling too.
When you have extensive Bhuvi experience, why would you do another handover to Avesh khan.
This experience cost India.
Please stop this stuff.– Surinder (navsurani) August 1, 2022
So Rohit chose Avish Khan to deliberately lose the match 🤣

Imagine having 10 runs to defend one last time and not giving the ball to Buffy. Instead, he gave the ball to Avish Khan to defend.
What a mistake. No hate but if we are talking about skills and experience, we should have gone with Bhuvi

Rohit Sharma throws Avish Khan to the wolves…!!!
I mean, what is the rationale for not bowling Buffy in the final?
Given that you would definitely take him to Australia (from the looks of things).
– Amit Behere (@amitbehere) August 1, 2022
Regardless of the score from India, he is credited with bringing the game to the end. Arshdeep must have been on the plane to Australia, what a character. Bowling owls along with it will be a sight worth seeing.
One question Rohit, why not give the ball to Buffy?
– Ailash Kumar (@abilashk99) August 1, 2022
Unless Buffy was injured or India wanted to test other individuals, it was hard to understand why the 18th and 20th place ball was not thrown by Buffy. Rarely hits bats outside the site. No reason to mess with bowling plans
