Elon Musk’s father held nothing when asked by Australian radio talk show hosts for comment on the life and career of his son, the founder of Tesla, and revealed that he was not proud of the billionaire businessman and favored his brother Kimball.
Errol Musk, 76, on Monday called Kyle and Jackie O’s show on Australian radio station KIIS FM for a brutally honest 20-minute interview, in which he belittled Elon’s success and criticized his physical appearance – claiming that he even suggested the 50-year-old take pills Diet after seeing his shirtless photos on a boat in Greece.
“Your offspring is a genius. He is worth a lot of money and has created so many things, you can’t take it from him. Are you proud?” Asked the announcer Jackie, O Patriarch of South Africa.
“No. You know, we’re a family that’s been doing a lot of things for a long time, it’s not like we’ve suddenly started doing something,” Erol replied.
Elon is the eldest son of Errol with his first wife May Musk. The couple also shares daughter Tosca and son Kimbal, whom the father described during the bizarre interview as his “pride and happiness”.
Kimbal Musk, 49, is a chef and restaurateur who runs The Kitchen Restaurant Group in the United States. His net worth is estimated to be around $700 million, compared to $271.2 billion, making him the richest person in the world.
Erol also has five other children from other partners, including his two youngest sons and a daughter he welcomed in recent years with his 34-year-old daughter-in-law Jana Bezuidenhout.
When asked about that unusual relationship, the acknowledged “female man” insisted she was “completely normal”, despite the 42-year age gap and Beswedenhout being his wife’s daughter.
Errol said during the interview that his son Elon feels like he’s five years behind his career schedule – and he said he agrees with that assessment.
“He’s frustrated with the progress, and that’s understandable,” said the father. “I know it sounds crazy, but we tend to think that way as a family. He’s 50 now and I still think of him as a little kid. But he’s 50, I mean he’s an old man.”
Errol also said he was concerned that Elon, who has nine children from four different women but is currently single, wouldn’t be able to find a partner who would be willing to give up her career to be with him all the time.
“I am worried about him,” said the father, adding about his firstborn: “He loves people, he loves humanity.”
The septuagenarian then got a sneak peek at his eldest child’s physical appearance when asked to rate recent photos from Greece that showed the Tesla and SpaceX founder relaxing topless on a luxury yacht in Mykonos.
“Elon is built strong but eats poorly,” his father said, adding that he was touting Elon for the purported weight loss properties of a nutritional supplement called Garcinia Cambogia.
When asked by talk show hosts if he drives a Tesla, Errol admitted that his luxury car lineup does not include one of his son’s famous electric cars, revealing that he instead owns a Bentley, Rolls Royce and Mercedes.
Errol Musk said that although his son is the richest man in the world, Elon does not give him alms freely.
“We are a very frugal and clumsy family,” stressed the wealthy South African engineer. “If I want to spend anything, I must answer 100 questions about why.”
