Brandon Moreno finishes Kai Cara France with a body kick

Brandon Moreno is next in line. He left no doubt about that Saturday at UFC 277.

In the co-main event at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Moreno (20-6-2 MMA, 8-3-2 UFC) finished Kai Kara-France (24-10 MMA, 7-3 UFC) with a body kick and punches at the 4 mark :33 From the third round.

The first two rounds were closely contested with Moreno who used his impressive range and technique. The Kara-France team struggled in a consistent offensive rally until the start of the third round. Kara-France had some success with Moreno’s shot sequence in the leg but it was short.

Moreno swayed and spun like Chief Benson Henderson to the floor, and was met with a few handfuls of knuckles from Kara-France, who stood above him. The shots became bloodied by Moreno, who eventually rose up and continued the fight.

As the clock ticked, Moreno fired a ferocious physical kick into the middle section of Cara France. There was no poker showdown. Kara-France folds like a garden chair and sticks to its center. Halfway between taking care of the tender area and defending the attack of punches to the head, Kara France was unable to defend himself and referee Herb Dean intervened.

A provisional title in his possession, Moreno has joined up fighting champion recovering, Deiveson Figueiredo (21-2-1 MMA, 10-2-1 UFC), in the future. This will be the fourth meeting in their career. The chain is 1-1-1.

After the match, Figueiredo joined Moreno inside the cage. Despite the mean burglary from Figueiredo, Moreno said he wanted to set an example for his wife and children. So he apologized to Figueiredo for offending him in the past and extended his hand. Figueiredo accepted the apology and the two put arms around each other as the crowd swarmed.

With the win, Moreno bounced back from a title loss to Figueiredo at UFC 270 in January. He also received a temporary title for the first time. Since returning to the UFC in 2019, Moreno has amassed a 5-1-2 record with wins over Figueiredo, Jussier Formiga, Brandon Royval and two over Kara-France.

Moreno and Kara France first competed against each other at UFC 245 in December 2019. Moreno won by unanimous decision.
