Danny’s Sub and Pizza recalls meat pizza products that were produced without the benefit of inspection

Washington, July 28, 2022 Danny’s Sub and Pizza, a Cape Coral, Florida, corporation that does business as Danny’s Cuban Pizza, is recalling approximately 19,275 pounds of frozen meat pizza products that were produced without the benefit of Federal Inspection, the Food Safety and Inspection Service The US Department of Agriculture (FSIS) announced today.

The Cuban Style Frozen Meat Pizza Single Size was produced from January 2020 to July 2022. The following products are subject to return [View labels]:

  • 14 oz. Frozen shrink-wrapped packages containing 1 serving of “DANNY’S CUBAN PIZZA AUTHENTIC CUBAN STYLE pepperoni” without batch code, packing dates, or other identifying information represented on the label.
  • 14 oz. Frozen shrink-wrapped containers containing 1 serving of “DANNY’S CUBAN PIZZA AUTHENTIC CUBAN STYLE chorizo” without batch code, packing dates, or other identifying information represented on the label.
  • 17.5 oz. Frozen shrink-wrapped containers contain 1 serving of “DANNY’S CUBAN PIZZA AUTHENTIC CUBAN STYLE Hawaiian” without batch code, packing dates, or other identifying information represented on the label.
  • 14 oz. Frozen shrink-wrapped packages containing 1 serving of “DANNY’S CUBAN PIZZA AUTHENTIC CUBAN STYLE” without batch code, packing dates, or other identifying information represented on the label.

Products subject to recall do not bear the establishment number or USDA inspection mark. These items are shipped to retail locations in Florida and Texas.

The problem was discovered during routine FSIS monitoring activities when it was determined that pizza meat products were produced in an establishment that had not been inspected by the USDA.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact their health care provider.

FSIS fears that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators. We urge consumers who have purchased these products not to consume them. These products must be disposed of or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recall companies have notified them Recall customers and take steps to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
