Sapphire first to release 8GB AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card

Sapphire has become the first manufacturer to officially offer an 8GB variant of the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card.

Sapphire announced the latest graphics card on its phone Twitter feed In a PULSE variation that rocks a custom dual-slot design and dual-fan cooler. AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT was launched in 4GB GDDR6 flavors first but now, AIB has been given the go-ahead to release 8GB flavors as well.

Known internally as the “Beige Goby,” the AMD Navi 24 GPU is on the Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card, which is the smallest in the RDNA 2 lineup and features a single SDMA engine. Chip rocks feature two shading arrays for a total of 8 WGPs and a maximum of 16 arithmetic units. The Radeon RX 6500 XT features 1024 cores although it is not the most entry-level GPU in the RDNA 2 family because that title belongs to the Radeon RX 6400.

In addition to the number of cores, each shader array will contain 128KB of L1 cache, 1MB of L2 cache and there will also be 16MB of Infinity cache (LLC). The AMD Navi 24 RDNA 2 GPU for the Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card comes with a 64-bit bus interface. The card will feature an 18 Gbps memory clock for a total bandwidth of 144 GB/s and an effective bandwidth (with Infinity Cache) of 232 GB/s.

Official clock speeds are rated at 2610MHz and 2815MHz while Sapphire’s AIB model runs at 2695MHz and 2855MHz on the clock. Those clocks are also higher than the 4GB PULSE Radeon RX 6500 XT variant which comes in at 2685MHz and 2825MHz.

The Sapphire Radeon RX 6500 XT PULSE graphics card is now available in both 8 GB and 4 GB. Both models come with 130 TB watts which is 23 watts higher than the official 107 watt TBP. No word on pricing, but the 8GB model should end up close to $200 considering the RX 6500 XT 4GB models go for well under $200 nowadays. In terms of GPU performance, we don’t expect any major differences to come from the additional VRAM but increasing the clock speed will result in slightly better overall performance.
