How to use Gmail filters
Think of filters as a Gmail alternative to folders. Use it to automatically label, archive, delete, star, or forward messages.

Filters are also useful for conveying everything from your aunt, for example, who never stops sending articles to one specific place. Or filter messages from HOA to easily find what you need.
There are two ways to set up filters in Gmail. One of your inbox.
Hit Show search options An icon in the search bar at the top. (It looks like three lines with slashes in it.) A filter menu will open immediately allowing you to create a filter using any of these parameters:
Sender and recipient (if you have multiple addresses)
Keywords within the email body
The date it was sent or received
Whether the email contains an attachment
Enter your search criteria. To check that your search is working correctly, watch the click-through emails seek. If everything looks good, click Create filter at the bottom of the search window.
Only new messages will be affected when a filter is created. Another thing to keep in mind: when someone responds to a message you filtered, the reply will only be filtered if it meets the same search criteria.

Automatically star important things for archiving – order numbers, tracking numbers, and other things for later reference.
Forward messages automatically or reply to specific messages automatically with a custom pre-written template.
Send less important or annoying messages to one place so you can read them at your leisure instead of leaving them in your inbox.
