Saunders vs. Colorado Rapids, Updates: Jordan Morris equals

SOUNDERS 1, RAPIDS 1: After several near misses, the Sounders finally broke the 343-minute drought when Jordan Morris scored from a sequence in which the Rapids were fiercely arguing. The contention appears to be that the Rapids didn’t like the Sounders so quick to take a free kick they tried to delay, when Christian Roldan found Jimmy Medranda swinging behind the defense. Then he found Midranda Morris, who hit the guard.

SOUNDERS 0, RAPIDS 1: Jonathan Lewis managed to get around Stephen Fry after the defense allowed him to slip back too easily to give the Rapids an early lead.

LINEUPS: Christian Roldan has moved to a defensive midfielder, Jimmy Medranda has moved to the right midfield position and Klein Rowe is replacing Nohu at left-back as Brian Schmitzer has made several notable changes to his starting lineup. The most interesting thing is that Nohu was removed from the squad because of what was said to the press “the coach’s decision”.

Just a few weeks after climbing to fourth in the Western standings, the Seattle Sounders are currently battling a three-game, five-game losing streak, which includes a goalless run. Extended to 300 minutes. Saturday’s game at home against the Colorado Rapids may not be essential to a win, but it is very close if the Sounders have any hopes of salvaging this regular season.

The Rapids entered this game after going six games without a win on their own, beating the LA Galaxy 2-0 at home last week behind goals from Diego Rubio and Gyasi Zardes.

Historically, the Sounders have dominated the Rapids at Lumen Field, where they have a 12-2-1 advantage. Meanwhile, the Rapids have not won a road match this year (0-6-3).

  • Although the Rapids have gone 3-1-4 against the Sounders in their past eight meetings, all but three of those games have been played at Dix Sporting Goods Park. The last time the Rapids won at Lumen Field was in 2016.
  • This is the first time the Sounders have gone three games in a row without a goal since 2018. The only time they have scored in four consecutive games without a goal was in 2015.
  • Rubio leads the Rapids with nine goals. No other Rapids player has more than three goals.
