“Is this real life, is this just a fantasy?” Elon Musk channels these rock music in response to Tesla’s earnings

Elon MuskCEO, Electric Vehicle Manufacturer Tesla Corporation TSLAresponded to an article about the company’s second-quarter financial results with lyrics and a meme depicting one of the most famous rock bands in history.

what happened: Tesla reported second-quarter profit of $16.93 billion, up 42% year-over-year. Automotive revenue totaled $14.6 billion in the second quarter, up 43% year over year.

Deliveries were reported at 254,695, an increase of 27% year over year. Production in the second quarter was 258,580 units, up 25% year-over-year.

Share a Reuters article on Twitter Inc TWTR “Tesla investors are betting on recovery and imagination,” he said.

The article cited a large market capitalization and a premium given to Tesla over competing car companies.

“Whether with humanoid robots or automated taxis, investors are still betting that President Elon Musk will change the world,” the article stated.

The article also calls into question what margins are falling for the higher-cost auto business.

Musk responded to the article in a tweet and had some fun with the headline.

“Is this real life? Is this just a fantasy? Fall into a landslide, there is no escape from reality,” Mask chirp.

The quote is of course the lyrics from the rock band “Bohemian Rhapsody” queen.

catch later chirp A meme with someone asking if someone could perform “Under Pressure,” which got a response with “No, but I can try Bohemian Rhapsody.”

The meme refers to the song “Under Pressure”, a song by the Queen that also appeared David Bowie to sing.

Musk commented on the meme with a first-class medal emoji, which could be a reference to him being the richest person in the world. Musk previously used the second-place emoji in reference to Amazon.com Inc. AMZN Founder Jeff Bezos.

Why is it important: One of the most important points from the second quarter report was the decision to sell 75% of the company Bitcoin Bitcoin / US Dollar collectibles.

Looking beyond the Bitcoin title, Tesla announced production progress including the company’s highest month of vehicle production in the company’s scheduled June history.

After supply chain issues and factory shutdowns in the first half of the year, Tesla expects the big second half of 2022.

“With both the Fremont and Shanghai plants achieving their highest production ever and new plant growth, we are focused on achieving the record-breaking second half of 2022.”

Tesla also highlighted progress in the energy business and future profit growth from software products, supporting that the company may have more than one vision for just electric vehicles.

There is some magic to what Musk does in the electric car industry, and it’s possible that the mention of “fantasy” in the title was not well received by the CEO.

While some believe Tesla has unrealistic goals for future production and delivery numbers, for Musk the show should eventually go on.

TSLA price movement: Tesla shares rose 6% to $784.34 Thursday.
