Erno Laszlo test, Marilyn Monroe brand swears

You could tell the master of medicine, Dr. Erno Laszlo, was the “it” skincare guy back in the day. Everyone wanted to get to know him and everyone wanted to treat him.

Speech spread when Dr. Laszlo treated a first-time Hungarian actress, Frida Gumbazzogi, after she was shot in the face by a rejected suitor in 1920. (We know – Wild.)

Word quickly spread about his stubborn skincare treatments that could restore women’s confidence. Before he knew it, everyone wanted to book an appointment with the famous dermatologist.

Once the 1930s began, Dr. Laszlo shared the importance of washing the face with oil and following up with a cleanser. Today, this is known as double cleansing, and it has only cemented its popularity.

And, of course, the glamorous and acclaimed ladies of Hollywood wanted to get in on the action – Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Lee Kennedy Onassis, the Duchess and Duke of Windsor, Gloria Vanderbilt and the amazing Marilyn Monroe flocked to Dr. Laszlo.

But there was a catch. You couldn’t just grab a bottle of his serum.

No matter who you are, whether you’re dripping in diamonds or not, you needed to secure an appointment with the respected Dr. Laszlo himself before you could touch one of his products.

This exclusivity continued until 2000 with interested buyers still required to book appointments with Saks’ Erno Laszlo beauticians, requiring membership cards (maximum 25,000 people) and a requirement to gain admission to an exclusive members-only institute in New York City.

These days, everyone can get their hands on the Erno Laszlo brand that is full of history. Among the fans of popular A-listers like Kim Kardashian, Zac Posen, and Nina Dobrev.

“From his mastery of medicine to his famous clients, Dr. Erno Laszlo’s amazing history continues to live on with modern-day innovations,” said Carla Martinez, General Manager, Erno Laszlo North America. “We delve deeper into the science of skin, emphasizing the connection between skin and the mind in every product we make and everything we do.”

My test method

Before I begin, it is important for me to let you know how I started testing these products. Well, I ditched all my other skincare products and opted only for the Erno Laszlo line, including the Erno Laszlo face mask, soap, cream, and more. I have used each product for three consecutive weeks.

I started the test with Erno Laszlo Detox Cleansing Duo.

If you remember, this was one of Dr. Laszlo’s greatest accomplishments, as the dual-cleansing method is still used and loved by skincare experts everywhere.

First, I took two pumps of the Detox Cleansing Oil and rubbed them together in my hand to make a light lather. I apply it directly to my face (which still has all of my mascara, lipstick, and foundation from today).

The oil seamlessly removed my makeup and impurities reducing the look of my pores and leaving my skin feeling refreshed and not tight or dry.

Next, I took the Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar (also known as the famous black soap) and gently rubbed it along the contours and depth of my face. Next, I massaged it in to make sure the soap cleans, exfoliates, and moisturizes my skin.

To say I liked it is an understatement, as my skin felt super clean with the exfoliation or peeling. This goodness lasted for three whole weeks.

While this Vitality Treatment mask doesn’t have to be used every evening, I like to use it at least once a week. Beware, this product can get a file a little Messy, but totally worth it.

First, you’ll combine the included liquid activator and triple mineral powder with magnesium carbonate together. Next, smooth a thick texture of the mixture all over your face while avoiding the eyes, eyebrows, hairline, or mouth (because no one likes pulling and pulling—oh!). After that, leave it for 10-15 minutes. Before you know it, it’s time to peel off the mask in a downward motion.

I was amazed by the results, as this face mask left my skin plump and hydrated while looking radiant and smooth. It makes sense, as your hydration levels have been shown to increase by 48% immediately after use.

If you’re like me, you’ve learned to live with escape. However, dealing with the effects of dark spots is probably the most annoying part of all. Fortunately, I found this serum.

This AHA Resurfacing Sleep Serum contains powerful ingredients in one bottle to resurface dull, uneven skin and reveal radiant, youthful-looking skin.

All I did was apply three drops of this serum after my cleansing routine.

I don’t have sensitive skin, so I was able to jump in and use this every night. However, you may need to build a tolerance to that, so the brand suggests limiting initial use to once or twice a week and increasing the frequency as you go.

Take a look at the above before and after photos to see how much it helped get rid of dark spots in those quick 3 weeks.

There was a time in my skincare journey where I neglected under my eyes. I simply used a generic facial moisturizer on my eyes and called it today. However, the under-eye area is very delicate and deserves a little bottle of goodness – after all, it’s one of the first areas to show signs of aging.

All to say, I eagerly jumped at the chance to try this emollient eye cream from Ocuphel. Made with sunflower oil, carrot seed oil, glycerin, cucumber fruit extract and fatty acids, this cream soothes and smooths the under-eye area.

To apply, I took a pea-sized amount morning and evening, warming it between the tips of my two ring fingers and gently pressing it down to ensure I reached the brown bone all the way down to the temples.

It resulted in an instant boost in hydration and also allowed for a smoother makeup application, eliminating unwanted flaking of concealer.

There’s nothing quite like a good moisturizer and Rockstar SPF. Without either, your skin would not reach its full glorious potential. So why not combine both killer products into one?

That’s exactly what Erno Laszlo did with Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30. Combining mineral-rich seawater, Spirulina Maxima, amino acids and essential minerals, this moisturizer helps rejuvenate skin, target signs of aging, and extract toxins.

So, how did you succeed in that? Amazing.

First, I started my extra step of ordering an external SPF product. But more than that, it felt smooth and buttery on my skin. It absorbed quickly and left my face looking bouncy and supple.

This Shake-It Tinted treatment is only back for a limited time, so I checked in so I could try it out for myself, as this is one of Erno Laszlo’s beloved Marilyn picks.

Shake-It Tinted Treatment is a toner while doubling as an all-over skin veil to reduce pore size and control excess oil. Best of all, using it was a piece of cake.

Immediately after moisturizing as instructed (Yes, after, after), you shocked this bad boy very well. I took a cotton ball, added a few drops of toning solution and swiped it over my face. Once I let the solution dry, my skin neutralized and radiated a natural glow.

The reason it is applied after oily products is that it creates a perfect matte base for makeup or to wear alone.

After testing some coveted skincare products from Erno Laszlo, I have to say this brand is worth a century of hype. I don’t know why you ever dared to doubt Marilyn Monroe’s skincare regime, but now I hope you don’t have to waste time, like me!
