New York Rangers coach Gerard Gallant wasn’t pleased with the Tampa Bay Lightning’s task of colliding and knocking out Igor Shesterkin in Game Three on Sunday.
“It doesn’t bother him,” Gallant said via the team’s YouTube channel. “It amazes me more than him. I don’t like it. Hopefully, when we talk to the supervisor tomorrow, they will take care of some of that because it wasn’t right.”
In fact, Shesterkin held 48 out of 51 shots and didn’t seem to care.
However, there were at least three serious connection plays that Gallant could refer to when he talks with Kay Whitmore, the NHL’s director of hockey operations.
Lightning made it a point to collide with Igor Shesterkin

The first incident came when Corey Perry cut a high Shesterkin, which Tampa coach John Cooper called a “follow-up.” Perry was penalized and Mika Zipanjad scored.
Immediately after that, Riley Nash rushed into the area and knocked out Shesterkin. He was called to interfere with Chris Kreider in capital letters.
Then there was an incident in which a Tampa player had difficulty putting on his skates which could lead to a serious injury.
Tampa wanted to rally the network and make it difficult for Chesterkin, who was amazing on the series.
We’ll see how the judges call it in Game 4.
