Splits continue from the PGA Tour to the Saudi-backed LIV Tour of golf, with several new players joining the emerging league starting with their first US-based event at Pumpkin Ridge outside Portland, Oregon from June 30 to July 2.
Friends foes and former winners Brooks Koepka (#19 in the official golf rankings) and Bryson Deschamps (#30) are the two main stars who have defected to LIV, and with that selection comes the lack of competition on the PGA Tour anytime in the near future. Mexican Abraham Anser (20th seed) has also joined the league, and rumors of Ricky Fowler (#142) finally still circulating.
Brooks joins his brother Chase Kupka, a former South Florida golfer and Korn Ferry Tour member who also played the first LIV event in London. Chase finished T32 on a 48-player course and earned a check of roughly $150,000, about 40% of his career earnings to date as a professional golfer for just three days of work.
With three points on the field yet to be determined, don’t be surprised to see a few notable names picking up cash for the LIV Tour. Overall with a very big signing bonus included.
