NHL Awards, Cassidy, Dadonov and Miromanov

Things are about to kick off the Vegas Golden Knights season as the 2021-22 NHL season is about to come to an end with either the Colorado Avalanche or the Tampa Bay Lightning winning the Cup.

Here are the updated NHL playoff odds from UnitedGamblers.com.

The 2022 NHL Draft is just two weeks away. The first takeover window is set to open in early July as well, and before you know it, the free agency will start on July 13th. The Golden Knights also have a future development camp scheduled for July 13. Here’s an updated look at the off-season calendar.

For Vegas Hockey Now, we’ll be wrapping up our gamer review series this week, then heading over to the agency’s free coverage. I am happy to say that this week I will be moving to Nevada full time to cover the Golden Knights more in person.

Golden Knights news and reports

The Golden Knights appointed Bruce Cassidy as the third head coach in the franchise’s history. He has replaced Peter DeBoer, who has just found a new position with the Dallas Stars. What can Golden Knights fans expect from Cassidy, who is ready to win the Stanley Cup with VGK?

Kelly McCremon kept busy last week as he traded Evgenii Dadonov (this time for Real Madrid) to Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a Shea Weber contract. This gives VGK about $5.2 million in cover space to work with this season.

The Golden Knights have no shortage of players in need of new contracts, with Nicholas Roy, Riley Smith and Brett Howden forming some of the names of free agents this summer. McCremon kicked off his re-signing phase on Tuesday by re-signing depth defender Daniil Mirmanov for two years.

The NHL Awards were held last night, with no Golden Knights represented.
